Writing is one of the most intimate internal experiences we do - but to be brave enough to bring your writing into a group requires a skilled leader who carefully carves out safe space while warmly welcoming you in. Allison does this with grace and style as she encourages me to stretch my writing skills while creating a playful and interactive energy. Whether you are looking to write for fun or dealing with a case of writer’s block, Allison is the antidote!

Here's how it works:

1. We’ll gather with our pens and journals

2. I’ll lead us on a guided imagery journey and share writing prompts that are guaranteed to hit a creativity vein

3. We’ll write for about 10 minutes on each prompt--messy and unedited, then we’ll share our writings with no critiques or commenting allowed. Note: When you're not worried about people's reactions to your writing or needing to react to someone else's--you can more easily drop into your own process!

Allison has created a gem of a gathering with her amazing writing circles. She invites you to uncover your inner voice and magically the lover of writing appears, truly! Especially if you think you are “challenged” but always seem to love the expression of words on a paper. Allison has fun writing prompts, a wonderful setting and eager group attendees. I have attended all of the circles and continue to live in the space of wanting more time to write...the space is welcoming!
— Bex Urban

I enjoyed the writing circle so much and wanted to thank you. It was such a treat even though I know what I wrote about was heavy. Just the feeling of being in community with women and letting it rip was so healing even if tears followed.
— Lisa B.

Thank you… What a gorgeous session today. I left feeling alive and inspired. Can’t wait to join another class!

More praise for Writing Circles:

Developing a regular writing practice is easier for me when I have a committed group, creative direction and a supportive environment in which to share. Allison provides all of this and more! I also appreciate the creative prompts that she offers regularly for independent exploration.
— W.B.

I want to take a moment to say how much I have loved being part of the writing circle and mostly experiencing your energy! I will definitely be up for the next writing circle.
— Natalie Bitton

I adore writing with Allison. She’s supportive, generous, creative and seemingly has an endless supply of fun, hadn’t-thought-of-that! writing prompts. Her format of just sharing and no critiquing facilitates exploration and playfulness. Plus it cues the inner critic to take a load off - a welcome gift.
— Heather Bloch

Just wanted to say the level I went today made me see a whole new side to my writing —your input is SO valuable- so thank you Allison for putting this different type of circle together!
— L.N.

Thank you for the gift of the writing circle. I loved it—it was liberating, mind-opening, and joyous. Thank you for all the love and creativity you put into it.
— Caren O.

When I learned about Allison’s year-long, committed writing circle of women, I knew it was the right fit for me. So often programs are 6 weeks, every week and that would have felt like too much. Being part of this monthly circle has helped me to find my own unique flavor of creativity. Allison has great “tricks” to help me find my way when I get stuck and to bring in outside inspiration that often take me in new directions! I especially love getting fun surprises in the mail (old postcards, photos, vintage magazine clippings) that Allison sends us for inspiration! Allison has this way of really disarming that inner critic and creating a space that feels safe and open. I also love listening to what other people have written and enjoy sharing what I write because I know that there will be ZERO judgment and only support. If you want to ignite your creative parts (and we all have them), this is a great way to do it!
— Deb Blum

The circle was wonderful, and I am so impressed with the way you have inspired us all to put pen to paper.
— R.P.

Being a part of Allison’s writing circle allowed me to wake up my creativity! Allison created a safe and well-designed space so that we could all dive deep into the writing and let our inner voices lead the way. I was SO surprised at what came out of me. I always thought I was a decent writer, but the experience of the writing circle allowed me to experience so much more of my creative gifts. It was also a therapeutic outlet for me and after each circle I would feel recharged and more confident in what I had to offer. As a life coach, I full heartily recommend this to anyone who loves to write and for anyone who is ready to wake up their inner voice and creativity.

Just wanted to thank you for a fun and liberating time today. You did a fab job facilitating and the group is an amazing bunch of ladies. Looking forward to next week!
— Liz T

I wanted to say thank you for such a wonderful experience today. Such an encouraging atmosphere and obviously you take your creativity very seriously. I’m so impressed with how you ran the 2 hour session - not an easy thing to do! I really do think that it will be opening up a part of me that will help me enormously in my work, even if it does not eventually involve writing.
— Lizabeth M.

When I started coming to Allison’s writing circle, I was starting my work as a playwright, but having a hard time finding the time to sit down and write. I thought a weekly writing time would help get me on track. What I have experienced has been so much more enriching than simply a time to write. Allison has a wonderful way of suspending time and make the moments together so unique. She has created a safe environment where I began to express myself in a group like I hadn’t since my college dorm days. I was able to push aside the present day and truly be present in the moment. Her well thought out exercises and writing prompts enabled me to dig deep into my own thoughts and feelings better which has enhanced my fiction writing.
— Christa Butler

I have enjoyed this group even more than I had anticipated. Setting aside committed time just for writing has been a treasure, it’s like a form of meditation and really the only time in my week I feel I’m doing something just for myself with no apologies. It was just the catalyst I needed to get going on a regular writing practice, I just need to learn to shut out the world and set aside some sacred writing time!
