Writing Circles

Writing circles are a place to...

  • Adventure, take risks, leap, belly-flop, twist and twirl words in any way you desire
  • Invite your authentic voice to the party
  • Stumble upon insights with the help of your pen
  • Play with the process, more than the craft, of writing. Yet, the craft is honed organically with a committed writing practice.

Each month I host a women’s writing circle in Larkspur, CA.

Private Writing Circles

A private gathering of 5-10 writers or “wannabe” writers of any level… that join together to connect with their pens, journals and pump up their creative mojo. You provide the group in the San Francisco Bay area, and I will lead the circle at your home or office. Most writing circles last about 2 ½ hours. Writing circle options

  • One-time circle—This option is perfect for people that want a creative boost and have a group of folks in mind who’d enjoy writing creatively together.
  • Writing Circle series—This option is great if you have a group that would like to meet for a weekly or monthly series in the San Francisco Bay area. This option is excellent for helping your group focus and connect to one another in a deeper way.
  • Birthday celebration—Do you have the kind of friends that might enjoy a different kind of birthday party? This is a fun and wildly new way to celebrate.
  • Hike & Write Circle—Do you crave a day in nature to get your creativity on? Being in the outdoors can make it so much easier to connect with your muse. We’ll hike to a secluded spot on Mt. Tamalpais to commune with nature and our journals.

Why host a writing circle?

  • Private circles have the magical power to deepen connections in your group
  • Writing circles will enhance your own creativity not only in writing, but in all areas of your life. In other words, you’ll notice that you’ll be more creative in your relationships, your cooking, your gardening, your singing, your self-care, your art, basically your whole life!

Here’s an example of some writing prompts we’ll use to get your writing muse to come out to play depending on the group…

  • Write a letter to someone you forgot to thank…
  • The wind tastes like…
  • 10 things I remember about 6th grade…
  • The recipe to me is…
  • Write about your closet…ice cream…a white lie…
  • Write a love letter to a body part you don’t like…
  • 10 things I didn’t notice today…
  • Let your non-writing hand tell what it’s like not to be favored
